How to get the most out of your cooler
An air conditioning unit used in a cellar or dedicated cool room needs to be serviced on a regular basis.
Keeping the AC filters clean and the unit free of dirt and dust will prolong the life of the unit providing better cooling for the room. A well maintained AC unit will also cost less on your electric bills.
Keep checking the temperature of different areas of the cool room. If you are finding warm areas, or corners where the room is too cold, the AC unit is probably not working as efficiently as it should be.
Don’t block the AC unit with boxes or any stock. Allow for full ventilation. Since a cool room is only used by staff, it doesn’t get cleaned often as front of house, ensure you clean the AC unit and keep free of dust.

Frequently asked questions
Common questions we get asked about cellar cooling.
Typically, you should circulate air for 10 minutes every day to get fresh air into the cellar. Thereafter, keep the door closed.
The temperature of a cellar can be set according to the product(s) you wish to store. Most cellar cooling systems can operate at temperatures between 4 and 16 degrees Celsius.
The average temperature for a cellar storing beer or wine is generally around 12 degrees.
Keep your coolers maintained. A poorly maintained AC unit increases the heat produced and can increase running costs substaintially.
If you can, remove all remote coolers and any other type of cooling or refrigeration units from the cellar. These type of units emit heat from their condenser systems.
Warranties for air conditioning units usually range from 3 to 7 years. It depends on which manufacturer was used.
Over time, an air conditioning unit that hasn’t been serviced for a while will produce lower quality air as dirt in the air filters will build up. This usually results in the unit having to work harder therefore costing more in utility bills.
You should service your AC at least once a year. Depending on where the unit is situated, indoors or outdoors, near a busy road for example, the AC may require more frequent servicing.
