Frequently asked questions

Yes. We have all the parts and experienced engineers ready to repair most AC units or refrigeration units. We have a 24 hour, 7 day a week call out available in the event something breaksdown.
Yes. Having a good service record will prolong the life span of your AC units or your refrigeration units. A well maintained unit will be cost effective saving you costs on energy bills. A poorly maintained unit has to work harder for longer, therefore using more energy. Unexpected breakdowns can be costly with out of hours call out charges.
The ideal temperature of a bottle cooler should between 0 and 10 degrees Celsius. It depends on what you are storing.
The main causes of a chiller to fail is not cleaning the unit on a regular basis. Whether that’s from a dirty air filter or a blocked condenser.
We have installed many chillers over the years and we usually see units lasting 15-20 years. It all depends on how well the unit is cleaned and maintained. The better the service record, the longer your fridge or freezer will last.
Regular maintained coolers or freezer units can help prevent any need for emergency repairs. Don’t risk any equipment breaking down by having regular servicing every 3 to 6 months. A well maintained unit will provide work better and be much more energy efficient.
Too much heat in a room can cause the hardware to malfunction. The servers will work harder to try and keep cool, this will slow down the server.
All hardware emits warm air from the internal fans blowing out the heat generated. If you have many servers in one room, the temperature can rise significantly. This might be OK during cooler months, but in the height of summer, the hardware can over heat and servers could crash or automatically shut down.
Make sure their is enough air flow in and out of the server room. Depending on the size of the space to be cooled, the correct AC system needs to be installed. An air conditioning unit that’s too small for the size of a room will be over worked and not be effective in keeping the temperature cool. This can cause the server hardware to overheat, under perform and it could result in the servers automatically shutting down or crashing.
The main difference is the temperature in the room. A cool room has a temperature around 1-10 degrees Celsius to keep produce cold and fresh. Whilst in a freezer room, the temperature is below zero degrees Celsius, keeping the produce frozen.
It’s best to have the cold room around 1 to 10 degrees Celsius. You don’t want your produce to freeze!
A cold room that has been installed by a reputable contractor should last at least 8 to 12 years. And if you keep a regular maintenance and keep a good service record, the cold room and AC units should last much longer.
You do not need planning permission to install a walk-in cold room.
Typically, you should circulate air for 10 minutes every day to get fresh air into the cellar. Thereafter, keep the door closed.
The temperature of a cellar can be set according to the product(s) you wish to store. Most cellar cooling systems can operate at temperatures between 4 and 16 degrees Celsius.
The average temperature for a cellar storing beer or wine is generally around 12 degrees.
Keep your coolers maintained. A poorly maintained AC unit increases the heat produced and can increase running costs substaintially.
If you can, remove all remote coolers and any other type of cooling or refrigeration units from the cellar. These type of units emit heat from their condenser systems.
There are a number of ways you can effectively use air conditioning in a restaurant or bar:
- Make sure you install the right sized unit for your space. A system too big or too small will end up costing you more in utility bills.
- Use programmable thermostats. Most modern systems can automatically adjust the temperature according to the time of day, outside weather conditions and the number of people in the room.
- Make good use of start up and shut down times. You don’t really need air conditioning units on 24 hours of the day in toilets. Programming start and stop times will keep your bills down and only begin working when needed.
There are many different air conditioning units suitable for a restaurant. It all depends on the amount of space that needs to be managed. A Variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system would probably be the best solution for large commercial spaces. They are easy to control, energy efficient and reliable.
Warranties for air conditioning units usually range from 3 to 7 years. It depends on which manufacturer was used.
Over time, an air conditioning unit that hasn’t been serviced for a while will produce lower quality air as dirt in the air filters will build up. This usually results in the unit having to work harder therefore costing more in utility bills.
It is not a legal requirement to service your air conditioning unit. Although all manufacturers recommend regular servicing and some even say that your warranty will be void if you don’t service your unit within the warranty guidelines. You should check your warranty and see what it says.
You should service your AC at least once a year. Depending on where the unit is situated, indoors or outdoors, near a busy road for example, the AC may require more frequent servicing.
In an office it would be best to either install ceiling cassettes or install a wall mounted AC unit.
